St Peter’s During The Wars.
As part of our English Heritage Open days we have been researching St Peter’s and Galley Common’s role during both the first and Second World Wars. Luckily some members of St Peter’s community are old enough to remember WW2 and our extensive archive is shedding light on our WW1 history.
For our 2011 and 2012 Open Days we restored our original 1940’s ARP Shelter which survives to the rear of the Church Hall and in 2012 we instigated the War Diaries project.
If you have any stories, information or photographs of St Peter’s or Galley Common during WW1 or WW2 we would be delighted to hear from you.
